The HERNIS Leakage Detection solution revolutionizes fire safety on board as the constant sophisticated mathematical video analysis is capable of interpreting events potentially leading up to a fire rather than detecting the fire itself after it strikes.
The solution combines remote surveillance, image analysis and digital storage in one system. By pointing the CCTV camera to a critical area such as the fuel oil pump on the main or auxiliary engine, the video motion detection system with its integrated software will detect potential gas or oil leakage and trigger an alarm at a very early stage. When an irregularity is detected the video sequence is immediately displayed on the monitor, and the operator is notified by an alarm. The alarm image includes the date and time the alarm was triggered, camera position and may include a short description of the situation as well as appropriate action for dedicated personnel. Pre- and post-alarm images are stored on harddisk.
To avoid false alarms the video motion detection system has a detailed masking feature allowing the definition of areas that are to be exempt from the movement and colour analysis. The system also offers selection of maximum and minimum object size, definition of direction of movement, as well as the option of setting horizontal and vertical planes in the image.
